This Privacy Policy explains what information Corpus collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Corpus is a daily micro-learning app exploring big ideas across philosophy, economics, and more. We try to collect only what we need to make the app work and to understand how to improve it.
Who we are
Corpus ("we", "us", or "the app") is the data controller for the information described in this policy. If you have any questions about your privacy or this policy, you can reach us at support@corpusapp.io.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, your name and basic profile details those services share with us, which may include a profile photo. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your real one.
- Learning progress. We store your activity inside the app, such as your XP, daily streak, which dialogues you have completed, and which thinker cards you have unlocked. This lets your progress follow you across devices.
- Usage and analytics data. We collect information about how the app is used, such as which dialogues are opened, which questions are answered, your streak activity, and general events like opening the app. To provide this analytics, our analytics provider also automatically collects technical information including your device and browser type, app language, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. This analytics data is associated with your account so we can understand how to improve the experience.
- Notifications. If you enable daily reminders, these notifications are scheduled and shown entirely on your device. We do not collect any data through them and nothing is sent to a server to deliver them.
We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the app and save your learning progress.
- Let you sign in and keep your account secure.
- Understand how the app is used so we can improve the content and experience.
- Respond to your questions and support requests.
Service providers we use
We rely on a small number of trusted third-party services to run Corpus. These providers process data on our behalf:
- Supabase: stores your account and learning progress, and handles sign-in.
- PostHog: provides usage analytics so we can understand how the app is used.
- Google and Apple: provide optional sign-in. We only receive the basic profile details needed to create your account.
Each of these providers has its own privacy practices governing how they handle data.
Your choices and rights
You have control over your information:
- Delete your account. You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app, on the profile screen. When you delete your account, we delete your account record, your learning progress, and your associated analytics data. This action cannot be undone.
- Access and questions. If you would like to know what information we hold about you, or have any privacy request, contact us at support@corpusapp.io and we will help.
Your rights if you are in the European Economic Area or UK
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, data protection law gives you additional rights over your personal data. These include the right to access the data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. Our legal basis for processing your data is to provide the service you have asked for, and our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@corpusapp.io. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Your rights if you are in California
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Corpus does not sell your personal information. To make a request, contact us at support@corpusapp.io.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data as described above. Some anonymized or aggregated information that cannot identify you may be retained to help us understand overall trends.
Children
Corpus is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@corpusapp.io and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, and our providers use industry-standard security practices. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
